City residents are enjoying ‘Biryani by the Bay’ festival at the BrewMaster in the Westend Mall. The food bonanza began on july 15 and would continue till july 31.

While the platter for vegetarians biryanis includes dishes like nutri nuggets, kathak ki biryani, subz dum and paneer tikka, non-vegetarian food lovers can choose from biryani including begum bahar jalpari biryani, shahi chicken, gosht nizami and nawabi andaz egg biryani. These biryanis are tickling the taste buds of the Ludhianvis who are enjoying these instead of paranthas and butter chicken.

Sarabha Nagar resident Sameer Sharma said, “During Ramzan, I used to go to Malerkotla to enjoy biryani. Had this food festival been in city then, I would have saved on the trips. “Rajeev Sharma, a resident of Gurdev Nagar, said while soe members of his family like non-vegetarian fare, others prefer vegetarian. “This festival is perfect for us,” he added. Claiming that the biryanis reminded her of the ones she had relished in Hyderabad, Aggar Nagar resident Mohita Thakur said jalpari biryani and gosht nizami were her favorites.”

Chef of the BrewMaster Arvind Divedi said that all the ingredients used in the biryanis were brought from Lucknow. He said there was no need now to visit Lucknow or Hyderabad for tasting the delicious biryani. he said it was for the first time in the city that kathal biryani was introduced and non-vegetarian food lovers appreciated jalpari biryani a lot. He said the best part was that they are serving biryani in the earthen pot that gave it a traditional feel. Chef said biryani raita is also being served with all the biryanis so that one can get the perfect taste of biryani. He said people enjoyed green salad with biryani while some went for their favorite pickle.

General Manager, BrewMaster Ludhiana, Huzoor Ahmad said that the Punjabis loved different tastes and so they experimented and organized the festivals like biryani at bay so that people could enjoy food of other states. He said that when the biryani is served in an earthen pot, some of the guests prefer to savour it in traditional way by eating it without spoon and relish it in the end by licking their fingers.
